BATTLEFIELDS

Most people know me for my music, some know me for my racing addiction, and others for know me for the love I have for games.  One of the games that always got my attention were the battlefield games.  I got so into those games I couldn't let go.  I've been a fan since the release of BF1942 and up to this day I still play it but not as much as BF2142 and BF2.  But, if you are a battlefield gamer like me you know they are pretty similar and they all have the same killer theme some.  It is so catchy and heroic it will make you want to play the game without knowing what the game is about hahaha.  So, since a long time ago I always wanted to do that song in a metal version and I did.

The piece I did is totally based on the first battlefield game BF1942.  What I did was I made a copy of the original and I put it on a cd so that I can replay it over and over to get every single note correctly.  The reason why I did that is cause I don't have any paper with the actual notation of the symphony.  But, it was easy enough for me to finish it all by ear.  First I did the drums and then the bass on the rhythm machine with the appropriate sound.  After I was done with that I transposed everything to guitar and started to play around with it to find the correct fingering for my hand.  A few hours after that I had to compose all the new stuff I put into it.  Not that it needed it, but I just wanted to give it a metal twist and it needed those parts.  Next day I started to lay down the tracks one at a time.  In this recording it was only like three sections of solos since I kept it original and with one take.....not so much editing and cutting.  Also, I didn't want to go crazy with the effects since the song already had an experimental weird guitar distortion...digital.  For those that don't know about guitar sounds and stuff....digital distortion is very bad if you don't know how to equalize it or just play with it.  The proper distortion is analog and it is ok to use digital effects, but only effects.  So, I was like fuck it all and I did it like that to create something a little newer.

After I got done with all the recordings I was so pleased with it.  It was so well equalized and all that I didn't have to use any automated mixing at all.  It was all setup in one number and that was it.  I edited it, mixed it, then mastered it, and uploaded it.  I think the piece was done in less than a week.  I have to say that it was a cool experience.....never forget it.
